10,20, 30 Minutes to Sew...

I remember a long time ago when I was having a hard time to find a balance in my life to include time for my creative side. Nancy Zieman, the sewing guru had a book come out entitiled 10,20,30 minutes to sew. She talked about how busy she was as a wife, mother, owner of a business and she said you can accomplish a great deal in just 10-30 minutes a day. I've kind of organized my sewing to fit into that schedule. My days start roughly at 5:00 am to 6:00 am. I try to work in exercise (I'm in that over 45 and need to exercise club). I do this for good health, flexibility and to prevent so many of the problems that come later in life. At my work in a physical therapy office, my boss said if I didn't want to become a patient, I needed to start taking care of myself now by exercising. Water aerobics is my first choice, but I also enjoy Leslie Sansome's walk away the pounds. Between being a mother of 4 children, having a husband who currently suffers from PTSD from his last tour of duty, working full time, I have a lot to do on any given day and I found that the 10,20,30 minutes makes an entire difference. I always try to have a project to take on the go. You never know if you are going to end up waiting at a Dr.'s office or for some other reason. I try to utilize all my time from lunch hours to TV and movie time. I found that the 10,20,30 minutes helps with ongoing chores such as laundry, dishes and cleaning. I try to enjoy the journey so I find a way to make time to sew and quilt. HAPPY SEWING!!!!

Fantastic advice!! I have to admit that I generally get up a half hour earlier and sew. It's amazing how much you can get done in a short period of time. I have completed all of my swap meet squares and am now sewing them into strips, I have done some baby gifts, started and finished my turning 20, finished Strawberry Shortcake, the Sequel, started the Charlotte and many other things.
Thanks for the continued posts.

So true. I squeeze in my reading then--5 mintues while I blow-dry my hair, 20 minutes during my commute (book on tape), 10 minutes during lunch... it adds up!

This is great advice, and I've heard you talk about it before. I just have to figure out how to DO it!
